Space Jam Vector Tileset
Technology Used: Adobe Illustrator, Mapbox
About: This interactive map was part of a school assignment. The assignment was to style an interactive web map based on a couple of different options. I decided to base my map on an animated film. My map was based on the 1996 legendary film Space Jam. All the inspiration came directly from the film. All the main colors came from the aliens while the symbols were a mixture of aliens and Looney Tune characters.
Process: The first thing that I did was to create an inspiration board to help me decide the different colors of the countries, roads, urban areas, water, and landuse. Once I selected my colors, I created texture files in Illustrator. These texture files were then exported as svg files and brought into Mapbox to add depth to the map. I also created the symbols in Illustrator. I found a text font that reminded me of the text that was used in Space Jam. I used Mapbox to create the interactive web map. Mapbox allowed me to determine the different scales of things like roads, city labels, waterbodies, and states.
