Southern Africa Bike Route
Technology Used: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, ArcMap
About: This map was for a school assignment. The assignment was to create a bike route for cycling competition on top of a shaded relief map. The bike route could be anywhere in the world. I decided to start the route in South Africa since I've been there and enjoyed the landscape. The route starts in Cape Town and end in Johannesburg with a little stop in Gaborone, Botswana.
Process: I initially created a hillshade in ArcMap, and exported the hillshade into Photoshop. I used Photoshop to accentuate the highlights and shadows of the hillshade. Also in Photoshop, I took a landcover file and added realistic colors and textures based on the different type of landcover for the area. Once I had the hillshade and landcover the way I like, added everything to Illustrator to add the labels.
